Sidney Karneke and John Helfrich have joined S. M. Wilson & Co. as site safety health officers (SSHO). Karneke will serve as the SSHO at the new Army Reserve Center (ARC) being built at Ft. Lewis, Washington and Helfrich will serve as the SSHO for the new dining hall project at Ft. McCoy. They will help project managers identify the safety equipment and procedures needed for the project and ensure that those procedures and equipment are used in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Karneke has ten years of construction industry experience with the federal government in the areas of safety inspection and project management. He earned a Bachelor of Project Management at Ashford University.Helfrich has six years of experience in facilities safety inspection and site safety management. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BS in Business Administration.

The $31.5 ARC is designed to support military training for 1200 Army Reserve members. The new ARC complex will consist of a 104,497 square foot Training Center, a 15,398 square foot Vehicle Maintenance Shop and a 3,817 square foot Unheated Storage building.

The $6 million new dining facility was fully programmed and designed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District to support the NCO (Non Commissioned Officers) Academy. Capable of serving up to 390 persons, this full service, 12,545 Square Foot facility, was designed to achieve LEED Silver and was programmed to promote proper nutrition to support our nation’s soldiers.
