St. Louis, Mo., March 14, 2016 – Lauren Williams, BIM Manager at S. M. Wilson & Co., has received the 2016 Alumni Leadership Award from the Construction Leadership Institute at Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville (SIUE). The award recognizes an outstanding graduate of the Construction Leadership Institute program and honors the individual’s exceptional contributions to the building community through their leadership, character and hard work.
Lauren has become a leader in the construction industry locally and nationally in utilizing (BIM) technology in pre-construction services and in leveraging mobile technologies for more effective on-site construction project management. She rose quickly from Project Engineer to BIM Manager at S. M. Wilson, and has made a significant company-wide impact by immersing BIM into the company’s suite of pre-construction and construction management services. Last month Lauren was named a member of ENR Midwest’s Top 20 Under 40 Class of 2016 for having built an extraordinary industry portfolio in just a few short years while donating significant amounts of time and expertise to serve her community.
“Lauren has used her energetic passion for BIM to help design, plan and manage $400 million of increasingly complex projects for S. M. Wilson & Co. and realize consistent cost savings,” said Amy Berg, President of S. M. Wilson. “She has also championed the cause of encouraging and educating young professionals – and especially women – to learn these construction technologies and pursue professional careers in construction. We are extremely proud of Lauren and grateful for her contributions to our business.”
The SIUE Construction Leadership Institute and its associated advisory board were established because of a recognized necessity for leadership and management training in St. Louis architectural, construction and engineering businesses. Starting with its founding class of 2004, the Construction Leadership Institute has trained over 250 members of the construction community. Lauren completed the Construction Leadership Institute program in 2012 and has served as a member of its Advisory Board Alumni Committee.
Lauren earned a B. S. in Civil Engineering and Structural Design from Stanford University, and earned her CM-BIM from the AGC of America. Attending Stanford on an athletic, varsity diving scholarship, Lauren attributes her work ethic, desire for perfection and ability to turn constructive criticism into a successful outcome to her 18 years of intense athletic commitments.
