Larry Williams

Lead Superintendent | Field Craftsman | Multi-Generational Legacy

Larry Williams served as a Lead Superintendent at S. M. Wilson for 44 years, shaping the firm’s construction operations across four decades. Known as a “traveling superintendent,” Larry moved from project to project, bringing field leadership, coordination, and expert problem-solving to some of the company’s largest and most complex jobs.

Larry’s influence is etched into the very skyline of the region, specifically across the healthcare, education, and industrial markets. His portfolio included landmark projects such as:

  • Barnes-Jewish College of Nursing (St. Louis, MO) – $28M

  • Alton CUSD No. 11 (New High School & Middle School Renovations, Alton, IL) – $57M

  • Carbondale School District (New High School, Carbondale, IL) – $24M

  • Tesa Tape, Inc. (New Manufacturing Facility, Carbondale, IL) – $6.9M

But Larry’s impact reached far beyond the concrete and steel; it became part of the company’s DNA through family and mentorship. His son, Steve Williams, began his career working directly under Larry, learning foundational lessons in planning and the importance of “standing by your decisions.” Steve carried that torch forward, rising through the field ranks to become General Superintendent in 2023.

The legacy extends even further into a third generation. For the past 20 years, Larry’s granddaughter, Courtney (Williams) Kinamore, has been a vital part of S. M. Wilson’s marketing team, helping transform and modernize the firm’s brand presence and leadership.

Larry Williams is one of the pivotal Wilsonites who built our legacy—a leader whose contributions continue to be felt through the projects he delivered and the generations of “Wilsonites” he inspired to follow in his footsteps.
