As the leader of our Healthcare division, Bill provided mentorship and oversight on more than $1.1 billion in work. His leadership cemented key partnerships with major regional systems—including BJC HealthCare, Blessing Health System, and Boone Hospital Center—establishing S. M. Wilson as a premier, trusted healthcare contractor.
Bill’s tenure was defined by a series of “Healthcare Firsts” in St. Louis, pioneering methods that were revolutionary at the time:

2003: Delivered the 48 most progressive ORs in the U.S. and introduced the first use of pre-fabrication in St. Louis healthcare construction.

2005: Managed the installation of the first dual intra-operative MRI in the United States, which involved hanging a 10-ton MRI from a modified existing structure.

2007: Completed a state-of-the-art Nursing Education Building, marking the first use of design-assist in the local healthcare market.

2011: Constructed a world-class research facility over an active light rail system, a feat of engineering that saved 12 months on the project schedule.
Bill’s influence reached far beyond the job site. In 2014, he served as Program Director for an OSHA Strategic Partnership, elevating safety and operational standards across major hospital campuses.
Retiring in early 2020, Bill left behind a legacy of innovation and expertise. He proved that healthcare construction is about more than just buildings—it is about precision, performance, and improving the communities those facilities serve.
