Sustainable Design & LEED

In today’s world, sustainable design is becoming more important.  When given the opportunity, S. M. Wilson explores all possible avenues to construct a “Green” building and or qualify for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification.  However, many of S. M. Wilson’s standard practices comply with LEED Certification. Therefore, additional requirements are easy to incorporate into the construction plan. Some of the LEED practices that S. M. Wilson implements on all of our projects are an indoor air quality control plan, the use of low VOC content materials and we also use recycled materials whenever possible.

Not only is S. M. Wilson a member of the United State Green Building Council, the company also has several LEED accredited staff members, and we believe that executing a LEED Certified building requires a commitment from the Architect, Owner and subcontractors as well as the Construction Manager. S. M. Wilson makes every effort to partner with subcontractors that have a similar philosophy to ours when it comes to a green building. We also take a close look at each subcontractor’s approach with LEED projects to ensure consistency and a high quality project.
