St. Louis, Mo., June 7, 2010 – S. M. Wilson & Co. has been selected by the Ladue School District to manage construction of a new $14 million Early Childhood Center. The 50,000 square foot educational facility will be built at the site currently housing Westminster Christian Academy in Creve Coeur, and will replace the district’s current early childhood center in Frontenac.
The new early childhood center will feature 24 classrooms, a music room, art room, Parents as Teachers space, an atrium, gymnasium and a ‘big room’ designed for activities that develop motor skills in young children. Once vacated by Westminster Christian Academy, an existing wing of the current building will be demolished to allowfor the construction of a new drive lane and building entrance.
Passage of Proposition ‘O’ by voters in April 2010 allowed the Ladue School District to obtain 30 acres of land housing the current Westminster Christian Academy. The Special School District will rent classroom space at the new early childhood center for special education space.
S. M. Wilson provided pre-referendum informational services to the Ladue School District, and will provide pre-construction and construction management services for the project. Bond Wolfe Architects is the project architect. Construction is expected to begin in July 2010 and complete in the Fall of 2012.
S. M. Wilson has provided construction management services for the District in past years, successfully completing renovations and additions at many of the elementary, middle school, and high school facilities.
