St. Louis, Mo., November 6, 2009 – The City of Frontenac has authorized S. M. Wilson & Co. to proceed with management of the construction of a new municipal building to house the city’s government offices, police department and fire department. S. M. Wilson will provide construction management agency services for the $9.5 million project, which will include the demolition of three existing buildings on the site and the construction of the new municipal building.
Site planning, building program development and other pre-construction services are being completed while preparation for construction begins. The new building will have approximately 37, 800 square feet of usable space. The entire project is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2011.
Arcturis is architect for the project.
The new facility will be located on the same site as the existing city hall. During construction, city hall offices will be temporarily relocated to modular trailers adjacent to the current buildings. The existing city hall building will be razed and the new, combined use facility -- which will serve as the police headquarter, fire station and city hall -- will be constructed in its place. Once completed, the police department and fire department personnel will move from their existing buildings into the new building while their existing structures are taken down. The city hall offices will then be transferred to the new building upon completion of new parking areas and all site work.
