St. Louis, Mo., October 29, 2009 – S. M. Wilson & Co. has been selected by Fontbonne University to renovate and expand the recently dedicated Anheuser-Busch Hall, a three-story building on the university’s main campus in Clayton. S. M. Wilson will provide pre-construction and construction management services for the $9.7 million project, which will include 32,448 square feet of renovation and a new 6,123 square foot addition.
Areas to be renovated in what was previously known as the ‘Science Building’ include lab space for biology, chemistry, physics and anatomy, as well as ten classrooms, 34 offices, a student library, two kitchens and counseling offices. The addition will feature new restrooms, an elevator, a student lounge and a greenhouse.
Some classes will be held in the building throughout the construction process. The project will be divided into multiple phases and scheduled to be implemented around the student population needs.
“The safety of students will dictate our planning and implementation of this project,” said Tony Ruebsam, LEEP AP, project manager for S. M. Wilson. “We have significant experience in renovating and expanding educational structures with students present, and we will draw on that experience for the benefit of Fontbonne students, faculty and staff.”
S. M. Wilson renovated Fontbonne University’s East Building in 2003.
Hastings & Chivetta is architect for the science building project. Work will begin in November 2009 and is scheduled for completion in early 2011.
