St. Louis, Mo., September 10, 2009 — TThe joint venture team of S. M. Wilson & Co. and Reinhardt Construction Company has completed construction of a new $8.5 million academic building at the Missouri Millitary Academy in Mexico, Missouri. The 43,350 square-foot, three-story building is located on the southwest side of the Academy’s 288-acre campus.
The new building features a Jeffersonian-style exterior design that is consistent with the numerous historic buildings existing on the school’s campus. A functional L-shaped layout is designed to maximize the square-footage on each of the building’s three floors. The first floor contains classrooms, a dining area and other common areas. The second and third floors house classrooms, science laboratories, a library, an art room, storage rooms and other support areas.
The project was built to comply with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification guidelines for sustainability in environmental design. Construction began in June 2008.
M+H Architects is the architecture firm for the project.
This is the second project that the Reinhardt/Wilson joint venture team has been chosen to complete for the Academy. In 2001, the team provided general contracting services on a four-story, 35,000 square-foot barracks building.
