Indianapolis, Ind., October 30, 2009 – Rollins Construction Company has completed construction of a new $15 million dollar data center for Community Hospitals of Indiana, Inc. The new 20,800 square foot building is housing and consolidating all of the hospital network’s data center operations, which had previously been spread out over three different locations.
Rollins Construction provided pre-construction planning and construction services for the project. The new data center is located near the Community Hospital North campus. It is the new home to the hospital’s Network Operations Center.
The first floor of the two-story, state-of-the-art data center contains electrical equipment, shipping and receiving area, equipment storage and a bench area for equipment preparation. The second floor houses the Network Operations Center, the system servers, cooling equipment, and a 3,400 square foot data floor with expansion capacity to 7,400 square feet of raised computer room flooring.
The entire building features redundant electrical service systems, redundant generators with uninterrupted power supplies, redundant cooling equipment utilizing “free air” cooling in the colder months of the year, and a chemical spray fire protection system, all housed in a hardened structure designed to withstand an F3 scaled tornado.
Arcturis and Bruns-Pak shared the design responsibilities for the project. Construction began in June 2008.
Rollins Construction is currently building an $87 million expansion of Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.
